“They Gave Me Three Months,” Young Woman Defies Stage IV Cancer

And feels better than ever....How did she do it?

At 43, Emma Victoria Johnson was fit, a business owner, and the kind of woman friends described as “unstoppable.” But the day doctors told her she had Stage IV breast cancer, already in her lymph nodes and liver, the world she built collapsed in seconds. The treatment options were limited. The tone was grim. The message was clear…..“Prepare for the worst.”

She was given just two to three months to live without treatment, or about 18 months with a medication that would slow the cancer, but greatly reduce the quality of life.

But Emma wasn’t ready to die. She wasn’t ready to stop fighting. And she wasn’t ready to accept that her diagnosis or the treatment scenario offered was her fate.

Her search for hope led her far from home — to Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico, a family‑run integrative cancer center known for outcomes that stand out in some of the hardest‑to‑treat cancers. According to the hospital’s published data, Oasis of Hope reports Stage IV breast cancer survival rates of 75%, compared to the 24% national average. For pancreatic cancer, the difference is even more striking: 25% vs. 2%.Instead of accepting this diagnosis and the limited treatment option, Emma traveled from Australia to Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico to pursue an integrative approach to cancer care.

Today, approximately 15 months after her diagnosis, Emma says only one very small area of cancer remains.

In this interview, Emma shares:

  • Why she declined conventional treatment

  • How cancer transformed her faith and outlook on life

  • Why she chose Oasis of Hope

  • The roles nutrition, immune-based therapies, mindset, and faith have played in her journey
