So is Trump a Christian?
My answer to a friends question yesterday.
So is Trump a Christian? As in a Christ follower? Well, I hope so. What kind of Christian would I be if I didn’t hope that?
But, here are my thoughts after really looking into this for a while, and considering Trump’s own statements about his personal beliefs over the years as well as his real life actions (which are always the better indicator), I’d say he’s most likely a deist who believes in a prime mover of some type, and calls it God since that’s what appeals to the majority of his supporters. But I really don’t believe he thinks much about such things.
In the 90s, he said he didn’t really believe in heaven or hell, just that we go someplace, but he doesn’t know where. In the 2000’s he described himself as a Presbyterian and more recently as non-denominational as he developed a relationship with Paula White. He’s been called “the first Jewish president” by Mark Levin to which he stated “that’s right.” Which I consider to be tongue in cheek, but if you look deep enough, there may be more to this than meets the eye.
