Ted Williams would advise swinging the bat like an ax as you would try to make a level cut in a tree. Worked pretty well for me, but I was a lead off hitter and not expected to drive in runs like Ben or you would have.
I believe a reasonably level swing held on plane for a long time through the hitting zone is best. I do not believe in trying to drop my bat barrel or uppercut at the ball. For me that kind of happens on its own, even when I am trying to be level. We really get into the nitty-gritty on this show if you want to hear where we both stand.
I really love this video of you and Ben. I have an eight year old grandson who is a switch hitter. I love how you and Ben give the perspective of how you were able to adjust. Will make him watch this. Thanks so very much for sharing it!
