The 21st century American is only now beginning to understand the flagrant deception required for a totalitarian takeover. I am amazed by the consent and approval of the continuous lies endorsed by such a large segment of the populace. However, there is but a single foundational lie that requires acceptance before the takeover of any communist order:

George Orwell captures this idea perfectly in the American classic, 1984:

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command. It was as though some huge force were pressing down upon you—something that penetrated inside your skull, battering against your brain, frightening you out of your beliefs, persuading you, almost, to deny the evidence of your senses. In the end the Party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it. It was inevitable that they should make that claim sooner or later: the logic of their position demanded it. Not merely the validity of experience but the very existence of external reality was tacitly denied by their philosophy. The heresy of heresies was common sense.”

Fellow Patriot, if these words capture what you are experiencing all around you, then we agree that something must be done. You now see clearly that the fight for your basic freedoms is approaching your doorstep, if not knocking already. Our biggest problem is knowing how to engage in this fight, with what seems to be such a powerful and deceptive enemy, and then having the moral courage to enter the fray.

Paul RevereMy decision to fight began around Thanksgiving of last year (2020), when two men I greatly respect both said the following words to me regarding the disintegrating state of our nation. “Jeremy, we need one thousand Paul Reveres, and we need them now.” These words were said in separate conversations, within a matter of days of each other. The repeated phrase struck a deep chord, and had a mobilizing effect on me. This was partly due to the unlikelihood of hearing the same phrase twice in one week, but more so because I had been considering for quite some time how to be more influential with my engagement in the culture war.. Until that time, I had done little aside from discussing these ideas with friends and family, an occasional social media post, and casting my vote. One thing I did do was seriously engage in self education, including opposition research. Last year, with each passing day, I was witnessing more and more egregious lies being told and accepted all around me. Meanwhile, obvious truths and honest questioning of these mainstream narratives was censored and labeled “disinformation.”  All the while, purveyors of truth were ousted from their respective platforms. The propaganda was apparent from the news media, social media, Hollywood’s subversive plot lines, Andrew Cuomo’s press conferences, the medical establishment’s Covid19 narrative, the race grievance industry, and the major corporations, to name just a few.

Some forms of deception were more obvious, such as the parading of late term abortion as women’s health.  Some were far more subversive and political, such as the cultural Marxism instituted through Black Lives Matter Inc. and Antifa. Much of this deception was spun quietly, such as the World Health Organization changing the Covid testing guidelines on the exact date of Joe Biden’s inauguration. These guidelines caused the reported Chinese Communist Party (CCP) virus cases to plummet, while claiming they were apolitical. I watched Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey (and mainstream media at large), engage in brazen fabrication last year, directly to congress. Dorsey claimed that Twitter did not censor the Hunter Biden story. The media suppression of that story alone, may have had the power to alter the presidential election. It’s too bad that mainstream media journalists are rarely incentivized to actually report on real breaking news.

I must admit that it’s difficult to know how to fight these lies when the purveyors and believers of deception are not merely some elitist force or fringe political party. Often it is our own employers, our churches, our neighbors, friends, and family who are buying in. Even in our own homes we struggle to escape the woke messaging. It becomes so exhausting. Tell me if this story sounds familiar:

The end of a long work week calls for a beer and some sports, maybe a movie with the kids, and maybe a date night with the wife. In order to enjoy yourself, your mind pushes back the truth you wish you didn’t know. The Guinness company, whose beer you hold, just donated millions to Marxist causes. The NBA game you’re watching kicks off with black millionaires kneeling for the national anthem, playing in front of an empty arena loaded with BLM propaganda. So, you bite your lip and decide its movie time instead, but Disney now shocks you by apologizing for its racist stereotyping before your son sees Aladdin for the first time. Well, maybe date night with the wife would be best? Hold on there bucko! Depending on your state’s governor, your choices may be highly limited due to lockdown policy. Suddenly, the smell of a dirty diaper hits you between the eyes. As you perform the task, clutching toddler feet in one hand, and struggling to tear open the fresh diaper box with the other, you notice the woke slogan on the box, your baby is now “A Future Global Citizen”!

You gotta hand it to the Left, they have a way of infusing political messaging into everything, and it’s working.

So, who is behind all this, and how do we fight?

Let us go back to a simpler time for some clarity…

We all know Paul Revere, (not sure if he’s been cancelled yet). It may surprise you to learn that he was not a politician, or a trained militia man. He was a regular guy, a silversmith by trade, who saw clearly that his fellow colonists were being treated as second class citizens. In response, he decided to bring his talents to bear for the cause of freedom. Paul Revere is now “revered” in history because he was instrumental in warning and mobilizing the American patriots against the imminent threat of the British. His courageous midnight ride allowed the Minutemen to be ready the next morning for the battle that launched the American Revolution. After losing one of his best friends in the battle of Bunker Hill, he traveled to the battle site nine months later. Revere located and dug up his friend’s body to give him a proper burial and marked grave. Emotionally speaking, Revere’s trials and tribulations aren’t so different from what we face today. He felt fear, anger, and the pain of loss just like the rest of us. In the end, there was a great payoff for his courage to enter the fight. The American Revolution was a success, and in 1776, our freedom and independence were won.

In the 245 years since that time, we have worked toward creating a more perfect union while seeking to live up to the original ideals as found in our constitution. Yes, we carry some old scars from those early years, and we have at times stumbled in our journey. However, we have also managed to become one of the most free and benevolent superpowers the world has ever seen. Though we developed the power and might to subdue or occupy entire continents, we chose instead to liberate oppressed nations all over the world. Yes, even at this moment I can hear the walking woke inside my head, ready to puke all over me with a laundry list of America’s sins or missteps. But consider this, the Left almost always judges America by its abuses, while typically judging other nations by their most pristine versions. This type of analysis is completely unfair, and should be dismissed when sniffed out. When folks step back and honestly look at the big picture, it is obvious that the entire world has benefited tremendously from America’s influence. History proves it, at least until Google and Amazon get the long-desired call from Biden’s education czar to move forward with cancelling our history completely.

Friend, I write this article because I’m certain we are in danger of losing our essential freedoms. We are devolving into an American version of China’s totalitarian surveillance state, and possibly something worse over time. I feel this way because I listen closely to those who have been around and paying attention for a much longer time than me. In the last couple of years, I have heard many respected elder voices all saying some version of this same idea: “I never thought I would see ‘this’ in America.”This” could be 100 different things right now, but they clearly are not talking about the dangers of the coronavirus or any international threat. Their concern is the enemies already within our gates, and the constant deceptions they broadcast.  They are dumbfounded by the masses who are blindly giving up their freedoms out of ignorance, fear, or compliance. Not to mention, there are many who are in complete agreement with the dictates of the new woke (world) order. Many folks in the middle simply do not realize that this is only the beginning, and the window of opportunity to alter our course is narrowing by the day. So again, who is behind all this? How do we fight?

The British oppression of the colonists was an easily understood political problem for patriots of the 18th century, but we do face a more complex task today. A commonly used tactic by conservatives to explain the political “problems” of our day is to peruse our Bill of Rights, and then provide endless examples of all 10 amendments directly and indirectly under attack from the Left. This is done rather well in other articles, but it merely points to the symptoms rather than the source. It can be painfully tedious to describe all the various groups wishing to undermine American freedoms. Luckily, the underlying source is not any particular group or party, nor the Marxist, the globalist, or even the evil Bezdorseyburg. The source is a great spirit of opposition to the idea of America. So, just as great hitters study an opposing pitcher, we must know who we are facing, only then can we fight.

At the end of the day, America is an idea. More specifically, a group of ideas I can simply describe using our pledge of allegiance:

“One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty, and justice for all.”

The practical realities flowing from those simple ideas are:

  •     We are a “nation” including our sovereignty, borders and laws.
  •     We are “under God”, so we submit to a higher authority than men or government
  •     We are “indivisible”, so we are united in spite of our immutable characteristics.
  •     Our social liberties and personal freedoms are sacred, no matter who you are.

Simply stated, the source of our problems is the Spirit of Opposition to all those things. For the Christian, an evil spirit at work and on the move is not difficult to comprehend. In fact, we have given this Spirit several names: The Great Deceiver, The Liar, Accuser, Angel of Light, Beast, Antichrist, God of This Age, Lawless One, Ruler of this World. For me, even these names begin to connect the dots with our present external reality. This is a spirit of seething hatred for America, its history, its redemptive story, and all of her resulting freedoms by which we have experienced so much human flourishing. So, if the ideas of America are national sovereignty, acknowledgment of God’s rule, personal freedom, and individual liberty, then it follows that the spiritual opposition against America desires anti-sovereignty (globalist), disavows Gods rule, loathes personal freedoms, and promotes collectivist group think with an elite class of rulers. This opposition appears differently throughout our history. In 2021 we see it clearly in the foot soldiers of the American progressive left, the Global elites, and the cultural Marxists. These people are alive and well today under the guise of our college professors, wealthy career politicians on both sides, the entertainment industry, Black Lives Matter Inc., the UN, the CCP, and for the first time, many of our most powerful corporate board rooms. Don’t believe me? Watch our newly appointed “climate czar” John Kerry at the World economic forum. Their plans include eliminating private property by 2030, among other communistic global ideas.

I’m not going to cover the specifics of any leftist policies here, but see if you can identify our opposition’s most often-used tactics today in this general playbook:

  1. Discover a real problem that requires solving.
  2. Blow it up into a much larger problem than it actually is.
  3. Misdiagnose the root causes, on purpose.
  4. Develop solutions that appeal to popular emotionalism rather than critical thinking, thus keeping the problem alive for as long as possible, while weakening America.
  5. Allow the fawning media to do their work of shaming those who propose other ideas or criticisms. Name calling encouraged!
  6. Develop a class of activist “experts” and professors in the process of “solving the problem.”
  7. Waste massive amounts of time and taxpayer dollars lining the pockets of the politicians and these new “experts.”
  8. Never allow the problem to be solved, but ALWAYS take the credit if and when the other side resolves it.
  9. Never apologize if exposed in your hypocrisy. Ever. Misdirect or Deny.

What if I’m wrong?

To briefly explore that, let’s look at a place where the left gets its way 100% of the time. The Buckle of the communist belt is likely San-Francisco, but we might as well throw in Portland or any other west coast city. If their policies worked as well as they adamantly claim they do, it should be a land flowing with milk and honey…or in terms they would prefer, a utopia. Instead, it’s becoming a wasteland. What we see is a mass exodus of their capable, freedom loving citizens to red states, miles of tent strewn highways due to runaway homelessness, the highest crime rates in the nation, massive debt, a non-existent middle class, and an ever-increasing tax rate to cover ever increasing government expansion. Meanwhile, their city councils quibble over how they can remove the latest mural or rename a high school so no one is ever, ever offended. Oh, and they now legalized public defecation in the streets. All of it is beyond absurdity. I’m not wrong.

The pressure to conform rather than fight:

The American loathing, anti-freedom sentiments we experience today can be paralyzing to the common man. They play on our compassion, while leveraging our fears. They present themselves in a veil of sympathetic phrases or government bills such as the “Equality Act” or “Dreamers” or even “Black Lives Matter.” It is a mere trick, a political  sleight of hand, straight out of Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.” which combines fear and social pressure to silence and guilt their opposition. Who could be against the poor Mexican kids dream? What kind of monster believes his black neighbor’s life doesn’t matter, am I right?

We feel the upside-down nature of the leftist philosophies all around us. Safety over freedom. Oppression is merit. Equity over Equality. Victimhood is virtue. Diversity reigning supreme except for diversity of ideas. Trust the politically approved scientists, but ignore the data. Our elementary schools shall be closed, but our border shall be wide open…Disagree? Racist!

Lets face it, the individuals who identify as common sense conservatives, traditional Christian conservatives, and the few freedom loving classical liberals who still exist, are now the sworn enemy of the Left. Why? It’s simple. When the individual has the power of freedom and uncensored thought, he cannot be compelled to make decisions as though climate change will kill us all in 12 years, or be coerced to take a CCP Virus vaccination, or pay 70% taxes, or deny the basic facts of American history. Our opposition is crafty, knowing that if it moves too quickly it may soon run into the barrel of our second amendment rights. With that in mind, they have waged a patient cold war of infiltration into our American institutions through the decades (Cultural Marxism 101), and have finally attained the palatial offices of power in nearly all of them. Now, with the power in hand and a confused and weak population to boot, they unmask themselves through censorship and suppression of people and ideas. In softer times this was called “political correctness”, now it is more accurately labeled “ cancel culture.” This communistic cancel culture is in full public view from the censorship of Dr. Seuss to Donald Trump to Atticus Finch. Yes, the woke dogma is so brazenly upside down that it even slaps the “racist” label on noble characters like Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird. For those with common sense, these ideas are so absurd on their face, that we find ourselves rather disoriented as we try to find an opening in the debate. ( As time marches on, the leftists are incrementally increasing the temperature, as the patriotic frog in the kettle slowly boils to death. This has happened before in other countries, and we are approaching the boiling point in America.

So, just as Paul Revere knew himself, and defined his enemy in his time, we should do the same in our time. I’ll allow the framers of communism and a few of the best-known purveyors of cultural Marxism to share their philosophies regarding the Spirit of their movement:

  • In 1848, Karl Marx began the Communist Manifesto with, “A specter (spirit) is within Europe – the specter (spirit) of Communism.” Marx, even in his atheism, referred to the system he formalized as a spiritual one. He framed man as not uplifted by religion but in a “struggle against religion.” He states, “our struggle is against that world whose spiritual aroma is religion…Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.” Later in his Manifesto, he also wrote, “We openly declare that our ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions.”
  •  In Russia, Vladimir Lenin declared that “any worship of a divinity is a necrophilia.”  He insisted that “there is nothing more abominable than religion,” and demanded: “Everyone must be absolutely free to…be an atheist, which every socialist is, as a rule.”
  •  Antonio Gramsci, the Italian Marxist, student, and torchbearer of Marx in the early 1900’s, further developed Marx’s ideas into the cultural Marxism we see today. He writes, “Socialism is precisely the religion that must overwhelm Christianity. … In the new order, Socialism will triumph by first capturing the culture via infiltration of schools, universities, churches and the media by transforming the consciousness of society.”
  •  Saul Alinsky, a leftist community organizer and personal hero of Hillary Clinton, wrote the following acknowledgement in the beginning of his famous 1971 work, Rules for Radicals, Lest we forget an acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history, the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment, and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom—Lucifer.” Alinsky knew well from where his ideology sprang. I encourage every reader of this paper to read that book, as its “rules” are rather obvious in most mainstream headlines.

And one from today….

  • In 2015, Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors has said that she and her fellow organizers are “trained Marxists” – making clear their movement’s ideological foundation. Cullors spent years absorbing the Marxist-Leninist ideology that shaped her worldview, as the protégé of Eric Mann, a known domestic terrorist of Weather Underground. She stated, “The first thing, I think, is that we actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and [BLM co-founder Alicia Garza] in particular are trained organizers, we are trained Marxists. We are super-versed on ideological theories.” Is it any wonder that BLM listed “disrupting the Western prescribed nuclear family structure” as one of their precepts?

In the end, our personal, political and national enemy is an evil Spirit. To be clear, it is THE evil Spirit; Lucifer, Satan. The same spirit who desired absolute power for himself and sought to overthrow the ultimate Kingdom. The great deceiver’s greatest desire is for us to declare to God and to each other, as he once did, “Not Thine, but MINE!”

So…how do we fight?
